Civic issues
Topics getting the most attention in Wake Forest public meetings, ranked by how frequently they come up.
Ligon Mill Road extension
The proposed ~$95 million Ligon Mill extension would widen Durham Road to seven lanes in front of homes. Residents asked for a dedicated public meeting, the traffic study, and consideration of a Capital Boulevard-parallel alternative.
South Franklin Street traffic safety
Residents raised speeding concerns on South Franklin through Holding Village. Staff added signs and striping, and the Board cut the speed limit from 35 to 25 mph between Artisan Park Drive and Heritage Greens Drive.
Go Wake Forest fares and Sunday service expansion
The on-demand microtransit service will add Sunday service, with a new benchmark requiring it to fulfill at least 90 percent of trip requests.
Fare-free rides to voting locations
With early voting moved from the Northern Wake Regional Center to Jordan Park, the town wants Go Wake Forest rides to be free for anyone going to vote, via a temporary geofence. Work is already underway.
Rogers Road traffic safety and connectivity
Residents raised concerns about left turns onto a curvy, busy stretch of Rogers Road near schools, and about cut-through traffic if Golden Poppy Court is extended. The applicant's traffic engineer said the project adds fewer than 1,000 trips a day and the median break location is fixed by NCDOT spacing rules.
